About Aluminum Busbar

Aluminum busbar is a rigid, flat aluminum conductor used for the transmission and distribution of electrical power in switchgear, panel boards, substations, and renewable energy systems. Unlike aluminum rod which serves as feedstock for wire drawing, busbars are produced through continuous extrusion or drawing processes to achieve precise cross-sectional dimensions, high conductivity, and excellent mechanical strength. Aluminum busbars offer a lightweight and cost-effective alternative to copper busbars in applications where weight reduction and material cost are primary considerations.
• Raw Material Sources
Produced from Aluminum Rod (via Konform LLJ Series continuous extrusion & Draw Bench)

• Available Sizes
– Width: 20–300 mm (standard)
– Thickness: 3–20 mm (standard)
– Length: 3–6 m (standard), custom lengths available
– Cross-sectional area: up to 3000 mm² (depending on extrusion capacity)

• Processing Routes & End Products
The production of aluminum busbar follows a well-established processing sequence. Starting from aluminum rod, the material is fed into a Konform LLJ Series continuous extrusion machine & a Hydraulic Drawing and Straightening Bench, which converts the round rod into a flat or shaped profile with precise dimensional tolerances. The formed busbar can then be further processed in two key routes:
– Busbar Continuous Plating Line: The busbar passes through a continuous electroplating line for tin, nickel, or silver coating, delivering smooth surface, compact coating, and uniform thickness for high-volume production of standard straight busbars.
– Gantry-type Plating Line: For applications requiring short or curved busbars, up to three coating layers in a single operation, or complex geometries. This line offers maximum flexibility and is ideal for custom-shaped busbars, which can then be further processed via Busbar Processing Machines to achieve final dimensions and configurations.

The resulting plated and shaped busbars serve as critical components in power distribution systems, including switchgear, panel boards, busway systems, transformer connections, and renewable energy installations such as solar and wind power systems. With its high conductivity, lightweight properties, excellent corrosion resistance, and superior surface finish, aluminum busbar provides a reliable and efficient power transmission solution for electrical and industrial applications across the energy, transportation, and industrial sectors.
