About Molten Aluminum

Molten aluminum is the liquid form of aluminum produced by melting scrap or primary metal in industrial furnaces. As the central processing stage in the aluminum value chain, molten aluminum serves as the critical link between raw material recycling and the production of finished aluminum products. From this molten state, aluminum can be directed into multiple downstream processing routes, enabling the diverse applications that make aluminum one of the world’s most versatile industrial metals.
• Processing Routes & End Products
– From molten aluminum, a wide range of downstream processes are available:
i. Aluminum Rod: Produced via CCR (Continuous Casting & Rolling) lines for cable and wire applications, or via Conform continuous extrusion for specialty profiles
ii. Round Wire: Drawn from aluminum rod using Drawing Machines for electrical conductors and cable manufacturing
iii. Flat Wire: Produced via Draw Bench for transformer windings and electrical applications
iv. Busbar: Manufactured via Konform or LLJ Series extrusion lines for power distribution systems
v. Tube & Profile: Extruded from homogenized and preheated billets via Horizontal Extrusion for construction, automotive, and industrial applications
vi. Aluminum Ingot: Cast via Aluminum Ingot Casting Lines, then stacked using Stacking Machines for storage and transport
vii. Aluminum Billet: Cast via Billet Casting Systems, then homogenized and extruded into profiles
viii. Aluminum Profile: Formed through Pre-heating, Homogeneous, & Horizontal Extrusion processes for architectural and industrial applications

Molten aluminum is produced in various furnace types, each suited to specific scrap qualities and production requirements:
i. Rotary Furnace: Efficient for processing contaminated scrap, turnings, and dross
ii. Double Chamber Furnace: Excellent energy efficiency and metal yield for mixed scrap
iii. Induction Furnace: Rapid, clean melting for high-quality scrap with minimal oxidation
iv. Reverberatory Furnace: Versatile workhorse for diverse scrap types with high thermal efficiency
v. Crucible Furnace: Ideal for smaller batch operations and alloy preparation
vi. Shaft Furnace: Continuous melting of clean scrap and swarf with high throughput
 
Supporting Systems
Throughout the melting and casting process, the following auxiliary systems play a critical role in operational efficiency and environmental compliance:
i. Automatic Dross Recovery: Recovers metallic aluminum from dross, reducing material loss
ii. Bag Filter Dust Collection: Captures particulate emissions, ensuring regulatory compliance
